MARK ALDRIDGE

Political & civils rights advocate, animal lover & state co-ordinator for the Australian Federation Party

Paul Syvret “Journalist of Labor spin doctor?”

The senior journalist and assistant editor employed by the Labor party, whoops the Courier mail, a man who is the epitome of that fine speech all those years ago by John Swinton, has recently excelled at lowering journalism to the level of a 10 year old throwing a tantrum.

The courier mail, brag his quality of work with recent articles including; Convoy? No its a cavalcade of crack pots, sceptics lose the big picture and a host of articles that attack any person who dare question the Gillard Labor government, as if all is well in Canberra.

Articles of fiction like “The Australian economy continues to shine” and “If you want roads you have to pay” could confuse this “Senior Journalist” with one of the increasing number of Labor’s well paid spin doctors.

Any Australian who dare question the actions of their government, which one would think is all part of living in a democracy, come under attack by Paul, who admits to trolling social networks to find that flavoured moment where ones comment to a friend, can be twisted to suit his agenda.

His latest article caught my eye, and many concerned Australians, with the heading “MEMO to all readers who are not angry, self-righteous, middle-aged white people with deep wells of bile and resentment” which then goes on to bag a protest rally which appears to be about concerns over where missing union members funds have gone and other important topics including democracy itself.

It appears the anger in Pauls article stems from some form of hatred towards any who question the direction Labor as a party are heading our nation, even though he certainly had very little idea what the rally itself was all about, more so that any dare question his masters.

Interestingly the article is more of an angry rant, in fact written by an angry middle aged self-righteous white person, with deeps wells of Bile and resentment towards any who dare question his position, or that of his employers...whoops

It is sad for democracy, and I use the word democracy based on the idea that we are able to access educated and honest information, that Paul did not opt to contact either those organising the rally or the speakers themselves of which I am one, but rather sought his information from trolling social networking.

Paul Syvret’s own twitter page lists among other things an interest in social justice and equity, interestingly enough; it appears his twisted ideal of social justice revolves around his own narrow minded ideals, with the same applying to his idea of equity.

A brief look over Pauls Face book page and we find as expected attacks on the liberal leader, post after post on Zombies (hmmmmmm) and I will not lower myself to his level by quoting any of his posts, none the less, he is a staunch Labor supporter all the way to the carbon bank.

An interesting question might be did Paul back Labor when the promise was “There will be no carbon tax under the government I lead?” and then remained by their side when their promise to gain Australians precious vote, was broken immediately the day they took office?

Interestingly if like many, you questioned Gillard’s false promise, you instantly come under attack from this journo for being, what was it now? “an angry, self-righteous, middle aged, Australian deep wells of bile and resentment” so it is certain Paul is not a big supporter of any form of democracy.

In a recent article Paul said “those of us whose beliefs are painted in a lighter hue retain due respect for and understanding of the pillars and processes of a modern democracy” which appears from his recent articles to mean “Democracy is fine as long as my preferred party is elected” regardless of how they achieve power.

Workers money going missing, deliberate lies to gain office, deceit by the honourable, dodgy electoral practices like intercepting postal ballots, dressing up as another party and the handing out of dodgy how to vote cards are all acceptable practice it seems. Because if you dare question such issues, again Paul will find a derogative title for you.

“Democracy in its true sense is all about the free will of an informed electorate, Paul's version appears more so, democracy is about the election through any means of my preferred party”.

The divide between the people and our representatives is the direct result of laziness and a severe lack of inspiration on behalf of our political party's, a direct result of a watered down democratic process, and as can be seen here, divisional tactics by our media..

John Swintons famous speech to New Yorks nation press club in part said “There is not one of you who dares to write your honest opinions, and if you did, you know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid weekly for keeping my honest opinion out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for similar things, and any of you who would be so foolish as to write honest opinions would be out on the streets looking for another job. If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper, before twenty-four hours my occupation would be gone.

He finished with a line very apt to this article ““We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes."

I ask you Paul Syvret, how much is your intellect worth?
