JANUARY 26 NATIONAL PROTEST TO DEMAND A “BILL OF RIGHTS” FOR EVERY AUSTRALIAN

SO WHY DO WE NEED TO DEMAND A BILL OF RIGHTS?

Australia is one of the last western nations to embrace a bill of rights, for the benefit of all its people.

New laws are written every week, and become law once they are gazetted by the government; these laws are written in the most with self interest in mind, to empower the government, while undermining our democratic practice, our freedoms and our system of justice.

Our forefathers sacrificed life and limb for our freedoms, the very freedoms I enjoyed so much as a child, it is now our turn to ensure future generations enjoy those same liberties.

Although Australia is a signatory to the Universal declaration of human rights, try mentioning that fact in court, and you will be laughed at, while with the same breath unfair treaties by the UN that are destroying our manufacturing and farming sector are upheld, ask why?

So you are driving down the road, you are pulled over by the police and receive a huge fine for something you did not know was an offence, like a number plate that does not have reflective paint ($520), is that entrapment?

Laws sold as anti biker, make no mention of Bikers or Bikies, they are all about empowering government and doing away with pesky ideals like the right to a fair trial, the right to remain silent, the presumption of innocence and even the right to chose who one associates with.

Laws telling people where they can work, what they can wear, and even who they marry, are beyond any powers our government should wield.

How can we as a nation avoid breaking the law, if we don’t know what the laws are?

What are our private property rights? can the local council enter your property? Can the police come on your land without a warrant, or even with one? While the people are not sure, the wool can be pulled over our eyes and what little rights we may still enjoy are being stomped on.

Prison for having a beer with a mate, fines for leaving your car windows down on a hot day, are the minor issues, where a bill of rights becomes most necessary is when we look at our voting rights, our land & property rights and indeed our future and our freedoms.

A “Bill of Rights” would define exactly what our liberties are, it would be taught in our schools, and it would reign in our legislators and our judiciary, to remind them the people rule.

The right to a free and informed vote, was lost the moment those with the most to gain from structural bias were allowed to write the laws, in the same way the protection of industries were lost when our supposed representatives no longer feared our vote.

Freedom of speech, of movement, of association, along with the presumption of innocence, the right to a fair trial, and in some cases trial by jury, are being taken from us, dare we leave this world knowing our children will have no rights or even access to a fair judicial system?

On the 26 of January, those who understand the importance of this issue will put their personal issues to one side, and will rally united in support of the rights of every Australian, because there has never been a better time to do this.

Laws to restrict meeting in groups, to move on protesters are being written as we speak, once the right to protest, joins the loss of our right to a free and informed vote, our future will be out of our control.

Maybe you are in a position to ride out the last years of your life, but what will you leave behind for others?

A Bill of rights would have to be written by the people through open, transparent and educated community consultation, agreed to by every Australian through referendum and attached to our constitution, making it retrospective on the current flawed legislative agenda.

Our common law rights kept up with our social values, to allow legislators the ability to dictate social policy, is a path that has proven unworthy of our support.

A united people have never lost a fight, which is why the government and the media promote division; keep that in mind while they try to paint the ideal of a bill of rights as a bad idea, because they will.

Every person reading this blog, will have had issues with the direction of this once leading nation, but the issue that should unite us all, is the rights and liberties of our children and the need for those rights to be defined and protected from self interest and abuse..
